Bogdan Vernescu

Vice President and Vice Provost for Research and InnovationWPI

Bogdan Vernescu is Professor of mathematical sciences and the Vice President and Vice Provost for Research and Innovation (VPRI) at WPI.

His own research is in multiscale materials sciences, focusing on the characterization of material properties of composites, porous media, suspensions, emulsions and smart materials. 

As VPRI he supports the university community and its mission, by fostering a culture of quality, high-impact, multidisciplinary research and scholarship, setting a broad, ethical, and inclusive vision for the research enterprise, overseeing the university-wide research institutes and centers, and budling new academic, corporate and government partnerships. WPI has been recently designated as an R1 institution by American Council on Education (ACE) and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.
